The Rundown: The Captain and his crew have their first encounter with the creatures plaguing the island.

Captain Coffin and his crew have taken to the woods to hunt the creatures killing across the island. As the moon looms full in the sky, the crew follows a trail of blood and clues across the local farmland. After coming upon a farm, they discover that it is filled with the bodies of both animals and men.

As the crew and the Captain form a line to track the creatures, a mist from the mountains descends on them and with it, the creatures they are seeking. As a vicious firefight ensues, some of the men are injured and two of the creatures are taken back to the castle. As Coffin and his men recuperate, their troubles only continue to grow.

The Story: Kelly, Jane and Carey continue to craft a thrilling, dark and compelling story in this issue. I love the dark tone of this story and how the characters interact with each other. There is some great action throughout the issue as the tension and suspense brilliantly build to the first confrontation with the wolves. I love the use of the fog in the story and everything in the plot builds to some intriguing moments with some of the other characters. The story also ends with a great cliffhanger.

The Art: Yapur’s art is stunning in its beauty and detail. I love the visual style of the series as well as the character and creature designs. There is something beautifully cinematic about the art in this issue.
